R.I.P 2014 – 2017

Hey, y’all! Hello!

Today,  we have quite the news for you! If you’re reading it, you’ve already seen part of it. WE HAVE A NEW THEME!!! 😀 It’s called Scratchpad and is adorable. If you don’t believe me, keep scrolling down until you find the pencil sharpener. Or a pencil shaving. 😉

Along with this adorable update, we changed our “About Us.” It made me realize that we were babies (the smallest of beans with questionable access to the internet) when we wrote it the first time and that we actually can’t still high five sometimes. Although, TIP: LOOK AT THE PERSON’S ELBOW APPARENTLY!

And the final bit of news that really does not concern our readers too much: we finally made an official profile for just this blog instead of using ACG’s account! That’s true. It was a headache to switch until we found the transfer button, but it’s for the best and I’m excited to have it feel even more official than it has. Apparently, a separate login does that. LOL @)

To illustrate what a change this was, below is the old and new versions of our “About Us.”

2011 – 2017

Well, it’s not really “about me” it’s an “about uS.” Just sayin’. We can’t high five, we’re insane, and we like chocolate. Oh, wait, that’s like a lot of girls.

Okay, now let’s get serious. There are two of us. There’s Anna the Country Girl (ACG) and there’s Anna, Just Anna (AJA).

The real things we like books, boys (fictional boys sometimes more than real), and creating people in our minds to talk to when we’re not together. Of course, we write them down, so I guess you could call us a couple of writers.

So, in short, keep your head in the clouds, feet on the ground, and READ ON!!!

2017 Revision

About The Blog

Hello! Hey, y’all! If you’ve stumbled upon this piece of the internet, you’re in for some…well, interesting weekly posts and occasional pictures. This blog began way back at the dawn of time in 2014 when we were still adorable and slightly confused high schoolers. The anniversary of its start is celebrated by a new carved pumpkin every October because we were entering a competition, and it stuck. Of course, though the pumpkins have changed (and hopefully improved) over time, we still love this blog and posting about usually not-so-serious things. We have grown and changed right along with the blog, but some things about us have stayed the same. We are still best friends, writers, and two girls with thoughts to share (and sometimes our heads in the clouds 😉 ).

The Girls

*Note: our identities on this site were created at the beginning of the blog. For consistency, these will remain, although we much prefer being simply Anna and Anna.

Anna the Country Girl (ACG)

I’m generally the optimist of the pair who loves to use y’all and gives pointless advice at the end. “AJA” tricked me (I’m teasing. I totally went willingly.) into doing what I do on the internet today. From social media to blogging, it’s thanks to her, and I’m so glad that we have this together and have had it as long as we have. I’m still scared of a large portion of the vast expanse that is The Internet, so I hope y’all appreciate her puns and meme references.

Fun facts: I’m an Aries and tend to match the descriptions. Sarcasm is actually my first language. My favorite colors are red and purple, and fantasy (werewolves specifically) is my favorite genre to read. I don’t like sports, but I have a dad and brother that do, so it’s a part of my life come fall. I use a lot of emoticons, and the poop emoji is my favorite of all time. I love colored pens, especially if they have glitter in them.

That’s me in a nutshell! Keep your heads in the clouds and your pens to the paper! 😛 ❤ 😉 O.o 😀

Anna, Just Anna (AJA)

A female bean who was born in 1997 and is learning to cope with being an adult bean. I tend to use bold font, internet slang (ironically, of course), and terrible puns as my favorite forms of communication. My signature is “drive safely.” I have been friends with “ACG” for 6 years (as of 2017) and am not sure that I would ever survive without her. Writing has always been a survival tool of mine, so running a blog with my BFF was a no brainer.

A few more fun facts: I’m a Virgo–you know what that means–and I like to argue. My favorite color is generally black, unless it’s yellow. Oh, and I have always liked chocolate and been uncoordinated as is ACG. 😉

I hope you enjoy seeing our nonsense and always remember to drive safely. ❤

Hopefully our new about is less…awkward and…immature, but still just as informative, if not–you know–more so. I have to go with moreso, because the last one didn’t make a ton of sense. Not really. It was a little…silly, which wasn’t bad for a couple of young eleventh graders instead of college sophomores (ACG is a sophomore, don’t argue with me, dual enrollment or dad -_-). But, it’s better now, and we have the old one here to forever look back on in memory. RIP old theme and old about!

We’re glad to get this updated and a new look for the blog as a whole, and we hope that y’all love it as much as we do!  Keep your hearts in your minds and your hands in the air! ❤ 🙂 ;P

One thing that hasn’t changed this week is that you should drive safely. ❤

Sweat Soup

Hey, y’all! HELLO! We don’t have much news, but what we do is a HOT topic. 😉 Oh, ACG… Oh my my my.

THE HEAT OF THE SUMMER IS UPON US AS WE APPROACH THE END OF JULY, especially in our region of the nation. Nearly every day this week the weather app on my phone has reminded me to be cautious due to extreme heat. Walking outside has been voluntarily becoming ingredients in sweat soup (contents: sweat, 100% humidity, the probability of skin cancer, and deodorant that lasted .2 seconds; WARNING: may result in spontaneous human combustion). The app said 87 and the real feel portion said 104 one day. That’s insane.

How do we combat this? We have no idea. We’ve just come to accept that it’s hot in the summer; it was hot in the summer in the past, and it will always be hot in the summer. Well, until our impending ice age, BUT FIRST WE MELT!

Stay safe out in the heat, my dudes. Wear your sunscreen, and please wear your deodorant, even if it won’t last. My words of wisdom: stay in the AC, if possible. Yessssss, do that!

Drive safely away from the sun!!!

Keep your heads in the freezer and your feet in the pool! ❤ 😉 😛 🙂 😀 O.o

Wise Waiting

Hey, y’all! It’s just ACG here, because AJA just had her wisdom teeth removed. She’s doing really well, just tired and hurting some (as you know if you’ve ever had the…experience). I had mine done when I was younger so I don’t remember it as well, but it’s not something people forget. She’s brave and strong, though, so she should be back next week. 😉

We aren’t doing watermelon dresses like we joked about last week, and because of the circumstances, our plan for this week will be postponed until next week. (It’s really great, promise.)

Until then, keep your shirts in the pool and your toys in the dryer. 😉 😀 ❤ O.o 😛

WATERMELON!!!

Hello! Hey, y’all!!! We’re a week into July, which means summer is at its…most intense. Meaning you’re most likely to drown to death walking to your car (especially if you live in the South).  That being said, there are also some very happy and fun things in the summer (she means “heat doom time”).  Some of these things can even help you stay hydrated and keep your taste buds satisfied throughout this time of heatstroke.

One of our personal favorites of this type is watermelon! It’s sticky and sweet and a ton of fun to eat. It’s also very juicy and fresh tasting. It makes you feel less dead even when you’ve already passed out from heating exhaustion seven times in your soul.

Watermelon is great as the fruit itself, but there are also other ways to enjoy this wonderful gift to mankind. We recently found watermelon tea, and I re-found one of my favorite juices in history. Also, there’s a recipe for watermelon/fruit pizza that is amazing, especially if you trade the whipped cream out for cream cheese frosting (I think it’d be just fine with whipped cream, but you have to understand ACG is a weirdo who demands things be organized as well as rejects whipped cream, so :/ there’s no helping her).

Recently we’ve definitely been seeking out all things watermelon, although we haven’t tried the “Watermelon Dress” thing we’ve seen on the internet. No, although when I first saw that, I was really wondering how they made dresses out of watermelon. Then I opened the article. Maybe we can try it out next post. 😉 @)

Keep your seeds in the ground and your rinds in your shoes. 🙂 ;P 😀 😉 ❤ O.o

Also, watermelon is juicy, so if you’re gonna eat and drive, please do so safely. 😉 ❤

“It was the 4th of July… You and I were fireworks…”

Hello! Hey, y’all!!!

So, being the good American teenagers that we are, we want to talk about a huge part of an upcoming holiday. The holiday we’re talking about is July 4th, or Independence Day for non-Americans to whom July 4th is just another day of a month. The “huge part” of that holiday we’re talking about is a truly American tradition: blowing things up. Okay, okay… Fireworks, which aren’t actually American, but that aside. They’re pretty…like our country. Exactly! They’re one of the most integral parts of the holiday, besides family (and nationalism #) ).

There are all kinds of fireworks sold in enormous quantities leading up to the day. IMAGINE: ENTIRE STORES FILLED WITH COLORFUL EXPLOSIVES. THINGS THAT POP AND CRACKLE JUST FOR CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT. SQUEALING CHICKENS THAT HAVE BALLOONS THAT APPEAR OUT OF THEIR REARS BECAUSE YOU SET THEM ON FIRE! Nothing has ever sounded more patriotic! (I think you can tell I don’t understand what fireworks have to do with America.) I did not know those existed (city folk have to get creative since we can’t have big booms in our backyard :/). My favorites are more traditional like Butterflies and Roman Candles. Snappers were always fun to use, and sparklers (the most beautiful gift to firework kind) were a childhood memory attached to a long story about being separated from my mother.

Fireworks can be really beautiful. For Americans on July 4, they are exciting and bring people together in this country to remember that we are all together in this nation that isn’t perfect every day but is pretty great on the overall.

My personal theory on the purpose of fireworks in connection to Independence Day is not well researched, but I think it fits. There’s a line in the Star Spangled Banner that says, “the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.” Fireworks can loosely mimic cannon shots and serve as a nice piece of symbolism to remind us of the war that was fought for Americans to have their own country and make their own rules for themselves.  (This thought makes a ton of sense to me and is kind of great, in my opinion.)

Have a happy Fourth of July, whether it’s a holiday or not!!! Keep your heads in the air and your hands in the matchbox! ❤ 😀 😉 😛 O.o 🙂

Drive safely, especially if you’re in America since it’ll be a holiday! ❤

*Note about the title: Fourth of July by Fall Out Boy was stuck in my head. #)
